Sponsorship from Rolls-Royce and GKN Volunteers provided a fantastic STEM Learning day for 30 Year 9 students
Moving from basic glider design and build to the design of a unique powered aircraft. Students were either looking for speed, altitude or heavy lifting capability. With only a day to explore aviation heritage, use of glues and materials and what might work as a full scale technical drawing this was an impressive response by students. Students construction skills were excellent and they made good use of the chance to meet local engineers from the aerospace industry.
Formation flying - two aircraft attempting to match speeds to fly one above the other.
